NCAA FROZEN FOUR

Role: Art Director, Designer

Client: NCAA Men’s Frozen Four
Produced in 2014 while I was with Sport Graphics

Project: The NCAA Men’s Frozen Four is an annual collegiate ice hockey championship in which four teams compete. In 2014, the event was held at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. The project scope included graphics and signage inside the arena’s inner bowl, playing surface, concourses as well as events outside the venue and around the city.

Approach: Each year the NCAA asks us to provide a unique look to the Frozen Four that is culturally significant to its host city. Philadelphia’s historic significance to the United States was my influence in the selection of the red, white and blue color scheme. In addition, I included the iconic Liberty Bell in the 2014 logo. I used a skewed star pattern that also payed homage to the patriotic history of the city. The skew was meant to express the fast moving athletes on the ice and the blend from cool blue to white was my way of setting a winter scene.
